Foundation English Test (FET)
The FET is a proficiency exam aimed at college level students to show the level and competency to complete a diploma program delivered in the English language.
This test is delivered, monitored and managed by the College of Excellence via a computer-based test (CBT). The FET replaced the Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET) in 2019.
Difficulty level:
The test is designed for those who have intermediate level of English B1.
- B1 is one of the CEFR levels described by the Council of Europe.
- B1 level means the ability to express oneself in a limited way in familiar situations and to deal in a general way with nonroutine information.
There are Four main sections for the FET
- Reading Section - 60 minutes | 30 marks
- Listening Section - 40 minutes | 30 marks
- Writing Section - 40 minutes | 30 marks
- Speaking Section - 15-20 minutes | 25 marks
There are four scores that test takers can earn
- Pass = B1 / B1+
- Progress to diploma = High A2
- Fail = Low A2 or less
