- A solid basis in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics to prepare trainees for their Diploma programme
The Foundation programme courses are designed to support trainees in achieving their Foundation qualification and also prepare them for the world of work or further education. Courses are structured to support incremental progression as identified through summative and formative assessment before they progress in level and by semester. Graded exam preparation modules scaffold trainees to succeed in their final English Language Test (ELT) by introducing them to exam strategies at every level of study.

The Foundation programme at Lincoln College International’s ITQAN Institute aims to equip new trainees with the skills needed to advance towards achieving their Diploma. The programme is designed to enable trainees to be well-prepared and well-qualified for their Diploma study by enhancing their opportunity for success and excellence.
Objectives
Learning outcomes aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) .This is an international standard for describing language ability. It describes language ability on a six-point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.

Below are the summarised outcomes in the form of ‘CAN’ statements:
Reading and Writing
- CAN understand routine information and articles
- CAN write letters or make notes on familiar or predictable matters
- CAN understand factual articles in newspapers, routine letters from hotels and letters expressing personal opinions
- CAN write letters on a limited range of predictable topics related to personal experience
- CAN understand the general meaning of nonroutine letters and theoretical articles within their own work area
- CAN make reasonably accurate notes at a meeting or seminar where the subject matter is familiar and predictable
- CAN understand most information of a factual nature in his/her study area
- CAN take basic notes in a lecture
Listening and Speaking
- CAN understand straightforward instructions or public announcements
- CAN express simple opinions on abstract/ cultural matters in a limited way
- CAN identify the main topic of a news broadcast on TV if there is a strong visual element
- CAN ask for information about accommodation and travel
- CAN follow a simple presentation/ demonstration
- CAN offer advice to clients within their own job area on simple matters
- CAN understand instructions on classes and assignments given by a teacher or lecturer
- CAN take part in a seminar or tutorial using simple language
